The cost of not breastfeeding on the psyche of moms who truly wanted to cannot be summed up, and can last for years. Regardless of where your breastfeeding relationship goes, visiting with an IBCLC who listens and counsels objectively can make a difference in how a mother 'owns' her breastfeeding memories.
Time Savings
Imagine not having to prepare bottles in the middle of the night, or imagine being able to leave your house quickly, without having to stop to prepare bottles! Breastfeeding can be "plug and play", and save parents a lot of time in a lot of different situations!
Saved Money
In the San Antonio market, artificial baby milk (aka: formula) costs between $12 and $30 dollars per can (for powdered formula). The average baby goes through about 13 cans per month. At six months, if your baby only formula feeds, you will have spent $936 on formula alone...and that's IF your baby has been on the standard, non-sensitive, least expensive brand!

Post-Partum Lactation Consultations (breastfeeding, infant's weight, breastmilk transfer and your milk supply is assessed, and a feeding plan is created, as are healthcare provider reports). Partners are strongly encouraged to be available during consultation.
Initial Housecall Visit-$125-last about 1.5-2.5 hours
Follow-Up Housecall Visit-$75-last about 1 hr.
Please add $25 for a twins, and an extra half an hour to visits.

Moms wishing to visit Breastfeeding Housecalls' breastfeeding studio will be seen by appointment only and at a rate of:
$75 (initial consultation) 1-1.5 hrs
$50 follow-up consultation 30-45 minutes
$25 milk transfer assessment/mini consultation (do your own weight check/milk transfer assessment and have basic questions answered-does not require observation/assessment/etc.)
