What’s the difference between a
Quick-Fix Consult and a Regular Consult ?
Regular Consult
($180 local/up to $300 out-of-town
Private Pay & Aetna)
A Regular Consult is an investigative/comprehensive 2 hr head-to-toe assessment of breastfeeding wellness and troubleshooting for babies of any age. This is a discovery and teaching-consult that includes learning to latch comfortably, oral assessment, pre/post-feed weight-checks, milk supply assessment and management, a feeding plan, etc. These consults are impossible to do in less than 1.5-2 hrs and are the consults that are needed when there is weight/jaundice/milk-transfer issues with baby, distracting nipple pain, milk supply concerns or suspected mastitis, plugged ducts, etc.
Quick Fix Consult
($100/Office Visit & Private-Pay Only)
A “Quick Fix” Consult is for babies older than 4 weeks who are gaining and growing with exclusive breastfeeding, and who are not experiencing a “breastfeeding emergency”. These consults are for moms who are looking for a deeper latch technique, are experiencing new subtle latch discomfort, who want to know (but aren’t concerned with) milk transfer amounts, or who have very basic questions. This is a good consult for basic pump teaching, bottle-feeding, etc..This consult is not long enough for a full Back-to-Work consult.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS WHEN SCHEDULING A QUICK-FIX CONSULT:
If there are doubts about the complexity of a visit, please do not schedule it as a Quick-Fix visit and instead choose a time for a Regular Visit in order to allow for proper scheduling and no surprises of a suddenly pricier appointment
At the time of your appointment, if a family is deemed to have more complex issues necessitating clinical lactation care, this visit will be turned in to a complex care visit, a very short-term care plan will be provided, and families will be rescheduled (and charged a 50% non-refundable deposit for the next avaikabek regular visit to ensure follow-through of regular consult for safety reasons).
