Meet Kathia, Breastfeeding Housecalls' & Lactation Clinic's newest addition! Kathia will be growing the role of Assistant Practice Manager, keeping my head on straight as BH goes through its next growth spurt!
Kathia and I actually go way back. Her and her sister were something like 7 and 12 years old when I first met them--I was about 18. We all sang together in the San Antonio Puerto Rican Children's Choir. I remember her parents, and remember thinking they were raising the cutest kids ever, always so stylish yet modest, well-raised and "finos", and overall just sweet and smart girls.
And as #breastfeedingprovidence would have it, Kathia and I both ended up in the natural-parenting community...as I was I "growing up" as a lactation consultant, she was having babies, breastfeeding babies and deeply rooted into the cloth-diaper/baby-wearing/amber necklace world. In fact, I was her lactation consultant with Jonah, her oldest of two peanuts. I spent time with her and her husband at home, and have seen several of her mommy-friends, too.
Last month, when I posted in a mommy-group that I was looking for a bilingual admin to help with my growing practice, a sweet angel (thank you, Nerva) sent her the posting...and lo-and-behold, when I heard her resume ding into my inbox, then saw her name, glitter and sparkles fell from the sky.
In addition to bringing even more sunshine to BH, Kathia adds the balance of creativity, responsible risk-taking, flexibility, ability to learn, sense of urgency and millennialism that BH families need (and that I personally thrive around). Her sampling of experience includes working in medical offices, in children's entertainment promotions (hello, radio Disney!), maternity and natural baby retail and is an all out administrative ninja. And of course, she adores breastfeeding, and brings the same sense of compassion and care for moms and babies that BH is known for.
Welcome, Kathia! I am seriously sooo happy to be working with you!!
