Why do you charge privately?

Because our model of care is efficient and taking insurance slows us down. 

To us, efficiency means excellently troubleshooting the right things, from the first moment we’re together, in as little appointments as necessary. 

Our sessions are like all-inclusive workshops about the issues at hand-and because we’re motivated by positive breastfeeding outcomes, not by insurance payouts (and are always very conscious of our client’s investment), we’ll never troubleshoot separate issues at separate appointments.

That most insurance companies pay lactation consultants 6 visits sounds generous, and while it would be easy (and profitable for us) to bill separate visits for separate topics…we choose to practice most efficiently in a space outside of the insurance model loop.
