NEW! Housecalls outside of Bexar County

Picture
There are two things Laura loves a LOT, and that's babies and a nice drive out to the Texas countryside. From Bandera to Kerrville, from Marble Falls to New Braunfels, from Bastrop to Seguin, and from Floresville down to Uvalde, and even to the Texas border (up to 2.5 hours from SA), anywhere there's a country road with a hungry baby, Laura can be there.

Investment & Logistics
Please read thoroughly

For yeeaaaarsss, clients from far-away lands (aka border-towns, the hill-country, coastal areas, etc.) have invested in their baby's future by coming to San Antonio for its well-loved birth scene of hospitals, midwives and other birth professionals. In fact, many of these families don't leave SA until their breastfeeding journeys have been fully supported--very often by Laura. We know this type of time and money investment adds up. Because we also know that new moms just want to be home with their babies, we're now offering families who live in areas without much clinical lactation support the convenience of visiting them.

Availability for housecalls outside of Bexar County will vary, but most will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, always weather-permitting.
Depending on points up to 1.5 hours away from our office address (13330 Western Oak, Helotes, TX 78023), rates will vary between $400-$600, and include a virtual 30 min consult before or after the in-person consult. Visits past 1.5 hours away from our office (i.e. to Laredo, Eagle Pass and Del Rio) have an $1000 fee and include two 30 minute virtual consults. Visits usually last about 2 hours, and will include latching, pumping, bottle feeding, and everything that is helpful to you and your family. Virtual consults prior to the visit may be needed to stabilize an immediate situation, such as an infection, acute pain, or infant weight loss that cannot wait until we see you. If a virtual consult is had prior to the visit, there will be a $125 charge that will be applied toward the visit due at the time of the virtual consult.

Austin/Houston families: While we know that parts of Houston and all of Austin fall within our 2.5 hr radius, because your markets have robust clinical lactation choices, and we prefer families to use them first. *If* a family from these areas really just want Laura to visit, we will consider it if it doesn't take her away from families living in underserved areas--but lets meet virtually first to discuss.

IMPORTANT: Clients are asked to pay visit balance prior to the lactation consultant leaving San Antonio, and address, special instructions for  access to your property, distance of gravel roads, wildlife expectations (yes, this is a thing with rural visits-especially on game ranches!), cell-service dead-spots, etc. must be clearly communicated. Because these types of housecalls are limited, we do ask for a non-refundable $50-$100 deposit when we reach out to confirm our time with you. We will reconfirm the evening prior to the visit, and if we don't hear back the consult will be cancelled.

SUPER IMPORTANT: All clients requesting this type of housecall MUST have a licensed medical provider (MD, GP, NP,  PA, licensed midwife, etc) for themselves and their baby (this will be confirmed prior to leaving to visit you), AND a venue for emergency care. We do not take clients who would refuse care from a licensed medical provider if deemed necessary.

To request a consult outside of Bexar County, please select the Housecall OUTSIDE of Bexar County option when requesting visit...this request will be confirmed via phone call or text to you shortly after your request is submitted.
