DONT SEE AVAILABILTY WHEN YOU NEED IT?
Unpublished spots are held open daily between 1-4 pm CST (and, rarely, during early evenings) for very time-sensitive issues to be seen. If you need to be seen ASAP, please text 210-209-1002 to be accomodated. Please do not use this number for basic scheduling questions. All appointment requests are to be made online:
Most consults will be confirmed via email, and a text will be received from Laura before the appointment.
Breastfeeding issues are
time-sensitive…
…which is why Breastfeeding Housecalls provides exceptional and timely support via video-consult.
Via a lactation-consult from Breastfeeding Housecalls, clients receive actual coaching on latch and pumping techniques unique to them, as well as guidance for planning and maintaining breastfeeding as long as possible.
Virtual-consults offer this in the comfort of a client’s own space, without needing masks, without the risk of germ-sharing, and at a discounted rate (compared to most in-person support).
What’s needed for a video-consult?
All that is needed is a hungry-ish baby or milk that’s ready to be expressed, a mobile phone (preferred) with a camera, an Internet/Wifi connection, and ideally (though not necessary) an extra set of hands to hold the phone.
If your baby takes a bottle, have one prepared to feed in case it’s needed, or for bottle-feeding teaching. If we’ll be pumping together, make sure your pump parts are ready prior to the consult start.
What happens after I schedule a consult?
After booking your appointment, you’ll receive client portal access to
complete pre-appointment intake
e-forms via email, and a confirmation text prior to your consult start time. Your consult will be performed on doxy.me/breastfeedinghousecalls (no app download is necessary), or via FaceTime or GoogleMeet, if our original connection is glitchy.
Who will you be working with?
All consults are offered in the CST time-zone by Laura María Gruber, IBCLC, an experienced lactation consultant with over 10 years of supporting families in person, and 5+ years of virtual breastfeeding technique coaching.
Laura has worked in San Antonio’s major birthing hospitals and NICUs, and has worked families who birth at home or at birth centers. She has supported infants with differences achieve breastfeeding, and when she identifies the need for developmental support, she makes the proper referrals to helpful programs.
In addition, Laura supports babies with oral restrictions, and understands the importance of oral-motor optimization at the breast. She is very familiar with how birth impacts breastfeeding, and is able to help babies born via all types of scenarios (who may be sore or tight from how they were born) learn to latch effectively. In addition, Laura is versed in working with babies who have tongue and lip tie and provides exceptional pre and post-revision follow-up care to ensure breastfeeding goals are met.
You can get to know Laura better by watching the helpful videos below, or by scheduling her next available appointment.
