Meet Laura Weaver, BSN, RN, CBS

Hello!
My name is Laura Weaver. I am a wife, mother, registered nurse, and certified breastfeeding specialist.
First and foremost, I am the mother to 5 amazing children (Lily, Joan, Levi, Theo, and Emmy). My family loves to spend lots of time exploring outdoors through camping and hiking, as well as playing lots of board games and card games. We also enjoy taking care of our cat and our chickens. When I have any free time I enjoy baking, sewing, and trying to convince my husband that we need more chickens.
While I am currently working on becoming an IBCLC, my journey in healthcare started when I graduated from Texas A&M Health Science Center in 2013 with a bachelor's in nursing. During my school rotations I fell in love with labor and delivery and knew that was what I wanted to pursue. I was excited to be a part of bringing new life into the world, and to help women see their strength and beauty in the process. I became educated on the amazing benefits of breastfeeding for mom and baby. I loved my role providing care during those first precious hours between mom and baby and made it my mission to support them in their breastfeeding journey and get them the specialized lactation care they needed. As I began to have children of my own, I took a step back from working full time as a nurse to focus on my own growing family. It has been through the ups and downs of nursing my own five children that I truly realized the invaluable support of a good lactation consultant, but also the lack of availability! I became passionate about helping others in their breastfeeding journeys which led me to pursue higher education in this field. In 2022 I became a certified breastfeeding specialist. Currently I am working and learning alongside Laura so that I can be eligible to sit for the exam to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
I am truly excited to meet each of you and learn more so that I can better serve the needs in our community.
